Dave is well known for his expressionist hand-coloured photographs of township and rural scenes of Southern Africa. Based in Cape Town, he sees his work as an opportunity to create awareness of the culture of intolerance and believes his work helps to bridge the gaps between diverse cultural groups.

He has exhibited his work in several galleries in Europe and South Africa and has recently signed a contract with Gallo Images. His first photographic book, which combines images and short stories
by previously unpublished writers, is to be published in the near future.

Dave has freelanced as an art-director in the film industry for many years and believes this has a large influence on his photographic vision. His favourite photographs are his abstract or metaphysical images which usually involve movement and often challenge the traditional borders between documentary photography and abstract art.
