Jenny Merrit   
Jenny Merritt was born in Stellenbosch and obtained a Fine Art Degree at the University of Cape Town. She studied under May Hillhouse Maurice Von Esch, with life drawing under Melvyn Simmers, graphic art under Eleanor Esmond-White and sculpture under Ivan Mitford-Barberton.

After her studies, Jenny was guided and encouraged by her mentor, Robert Broadley, the well-known portrait artist who was instrumental in furthering her early career. She currently lectures and runs workshops and her works are exhibited in most of the well known galleries in Cape Town as well in collections in England, Ireland, Holland, Germany, America and Canada.

Jenny's work consists of abstracts, portraits, landscapes, seascapes, caricatures, horse and animal studies (formal and impressionistic). She works in most media e.g. oil, acrylic, pastel, watercolours, mixed media and enamels. She has received numerous awards from the Western Province Watercolour Society, the South African Society of Artists and the Northern Art Society.
